Dear Affluent Property Owners,
Most of you probably try to be decent, I think you are no more enamoured with our society as it currently is than anybody else. The problem I have with you as a group that you facilitate massive, legalised fraud on a vast scale – because it happens to benefit you.

When the value of your property increases over time, do you think this extra money is created by magic? It is actually taken off those of us who don’t own property. For the last forty years there has been an ongoing transfer of wealth from the propertyless to the propertied. Likewise with your pension schemes – why do you get more money out than you put in? Well, if you bought a nice jumper for £60 it is likely that it only cost £5 to make. Who gets the difference? Investors! Pension companies are the most rapacious investors that there are, they will overlook slavery, environmental destruction and lies for your benefit.
Whilst many of you will look down on ‘benefit scroungers’ getting money for nothing, you generally get far more money for nothing than they do, and you do not need it as much as they do. There has for a long time been a narrative of the ‘deserving’ and ‘undeserving’ poor: Why do you assume you are ‘deserving’? You are the ones who have created this poverty!

Having said all that you are not the biggest villains of the piece. The 0.1% who are super-rich extract billions out of everybody else and in order to do this they just have to be rich, not useful. Whilst you get money for nothing to subsidise your incomes, most of you also have to work. The super-rich don’t, and they also control the whole economy and most of the political sphere. However, they could not do this without your support, and they bribe you with a small portion of the profits they extract in order to get it.
When the likes of Jeremy Corbyn proclaim a society ‘for the many, not the few’, the media tells you that this endangers your privileged lifestyle. Despite the fact that you are proud of your independence, you tug your forelock and think what you’ve been told to think. The super-rich could have never managed to create this system without your support, and it would collapse without your support. I think most of you tend to support it out of cowardice – you may moan about ‘party-gate’, general injustice and the rest of the government induced disasters, but you do not support meaningful change. You take your money, do as you are told and keep your mouths shut!
You are the people who are being bribed with (relatively) small amounts of money to defraud, suppress and disenfranchise about half of society and to keep a very small number of oligarchs in control. Your whole class looks disgusting and hypocritical to people like me. That is why there has been a rebellion embracing bigotry and self-destruction. They want you and your ideas to fail, and whilst I disagree with their conclusions I think their anger is totally justified. This is your fault, you cannot blame the people with no power for the state of society – it is the affluent property owners who keep our rulers in power and keep the corruption going.

The world is faced by climate disaster, escalating poverty all around and declining democracy. Whilst this happens our political parties still prioritise the profits of a few. They do this with your support – even if it is tacit, for as a group you are too scared to support an alternative. Affluent property owners seem either completely uneducated about this situation, or it is something they prefer to ignore because it makes them feel awkward.
You may argue that you have no choice because you want a comfortable old age rather than a short and horrible one. But you deprive half of the population of this very thing – and also often any quality of life in general – to get it. The media and politicians will imply there is no alternative, but there is – we had one before the 1980s and it worked very well, there is no reason why we could not have something like that again.
My message to you is to look to yourselves. Do you really want to be the venal, corrupt and hypocritical group of people you actually are at the moment? Is that your legacy to the world? The next time you come across a campaign that wants change you should help them. You could just give them some of your money – which you took off them in the first place. If you get the chance to vote for meaningful change, then take it. Stop worrying about what the neighbours would think!

If people like you are happy to embrace evil for your own personal benefit, and the fact it is so easy, our society will collapse. If the future remembers us at all it will remember you as we remember Marie Antoinette and the pre-revolutionary French aristocracy. That is your legacy as it stands. You are collectively the mindless minions of evil super-villains – please change!
